Welcome to this virtual exhibition. During your stay here I am going to dive deeper into the topic of dystopias in the modern age. While many consider dystopias to be a distant, fictional concept, recent events suggest that this is actually closer than we think and that we might already be living in one. With this exhibition, I want to challenge the notion that dystopias are far removed from our reality, by highlighting how current issues bring dystopian elements into our everyday lives.
I’ll explore a range of topics that showcase the elements of a dystopia into society. From the extravagancy of the Met Gala juxtaposed with the genocide in Gaza, to the global pandemic that affected us all.
Join me as we navigate these confronting, and often unsettling, issues, bringing light to our current world and how it mirrors the dystopian worlds people believe are still fictional. At the end of the exhibition, I want you to ask yourself: are we already in a dystopia?
